Our Story
Joa, affectionately called the “Tea Diva,” has been serving up tea and tea parties since 1998. She fell in love with teatime completely by accident. After spending most of her early life being a tomboy and having all guys as friends, she thought when she married Ken (aka Mr. Tea), she should try to find some girl friends to hang out with but was stumped as to how to achieve that. She decided to host a tea party in her home, since that sounded “super girly,” and she went to work coming up with some decorations and thanks to some teacups and teapots inherited from her grandmother and from her mother-in-law, she had the basics to get started. 12 women attended that first tea, and Joa saw firsthand how the spirit of a tea party could change lives. When those 12 women asked her when the next tea would be, it started years of tea time adventures, spawned a ministry, founded a business, and created a group of devoted tea friends. Over two decades later, Joa is still sharing the love, magic and ministry of tea with everyone she meets.
Our History
In 2006, Lah-Tea-Dah was founded as a mobile tearoom, serving Lake County, then moving to Hillsborough County. Due to a debilitating back injury to the Tea Diva herself, Lah-Tea-Dah ceased former operations in 2010, but we have continued to share presentations, classes and small tea events. Over the years, we have enjoyed celebrating each and every event with our customers and our friends, supporting our community through benefits, fundraisers and auctions, teaching you about the love of tea, how to make a proper “cuppa,” and the many physical and mental benefits of tea and teatime.
In 2024, we came up with a restructured model for Lah-Tea-Dah that enables us to share our amazing hand curated and hand-crafted loose-leaf tea blends and tea accessories, but also focus on special ticketed tea events, fundraisers, presentations and classes. We look forward to sharing our love of tea with you in all these ways and many more!
Our Mission
Communi-TEA. Hospitali-TEA. Chari-TEA.
Lah-Tea-Dah has always first and foremost been about these three things. We are passionate about sharing the beauty and magic of loose-leaf teas through education, tea parties, and meaningful experiences. Our goal is to help people embrace tea rituals in their everyday lives, while also savoring those special moments with friends and loved ones. We believe that a well-crafted cup of tea has the power to bring people together, create lasting memories, and even transform lives. By supporting local charities, we strive to make a positive impact in our community, one cup of tea at a time.
